Introducing Moonshot Initiative's newest program: An accelerator that boosts the careers of screenwriters with feature screenplays increasing the representation of women and non-binary people.
For the last three years, Moonshot Initiative has offered the Moonshot Pilot Accelerator for emerging TV writers. To date, we’ve received almost 2,000 applications for our Pilot Accelerator and have helped 24 selected fellows prepare their pitches and gain industry knowledge before setting them up on one-on-one pitch meetings with HBO, Netflix, Hulu, Showtime, Starz, Amazon Studios/Prime Video, Warner Bros. Discovery, and many more.
Due to popular demand, we decided to create an equivalent opportunity for emerging feature writers — and applications are now open!
The Moonshot Feature Accelerator aims to elevate and spotlight talented emerging feature film writers with strong voices and unique stories that increase the representation of women, non-binary people, and underrepresented communities.
During the program, we’ll guide our fellows in crafting and polishing strong pitches for their current project — and help them master the art of pitching so they are confident in all future pitch opportunities. Fellows will also learn about the business through Q&As with an entertainment lawyer, agent and manager.
We’ll set our fellows up on one-on-one pitch meetings with production companies, agents, managers, producers, financiers, studios, and streamers with the aim of getting the writer and/or their current feature script to the next level.
Positive outcomes may include:
Getting their script bought or optioned for development by a production company, studio, or streamer.
Getting financiers or producers interested in coming on board the project.
Getting representation from an agent or manager.
Being considered for open writing assignments/IP projects by a company they pitched to.
Securing a general meeting with a studio, streamer, or production company.
Building long-standing relationships with companies and execs so that they may be considered for future opportunities.
Most importantly, we’re creating a strong community of emerging writers who will uplift one another!
Who can submit to the Moonshot Feature Accelerator?
This program is for writers with a polished feature film script that increases the representation of women and non-binary people.
